Mayor, Celebrity Athletes Attending Event to Benefit SSU

You’re invited! Local philanthropists Hacina Saadi and Lindsay Furman calls on everyone to open your heart and use your “inside voices” for a silent auction at Whisper Nightclub. The event, being held October 10 from 6-10p benefits Soccer Sisters United, Inc. and our ongoing athletic/community building program.

Miss Pennsylvania 2011, Amber-Joi Watkins will take on the red carpet from 6-7p to interview guests including the Honorable Mayor Michael Nutter; Philadelphia Union’s Freddy Adu; Philadelphia Eagles’ Jeremy Maclin, Brent Celek, and Todd Herremans. Celebrity blogger Arthur Kade and personalities from 6ABC and Fox29 are also among the confirmed guests.

Afterwards, Philly’s own Mark Gaines will be performing live renditions of songs from his forthcoming album, Mark My Words, and his debut, Loves Music, in between sets by DJs Eddie Tully and KY.

Items up for auction are a baseball signed by “The Big Piece” himself, Philadelphia Phillies’ Ryan Howard; a jersey signed by Philadelphia Flyers’ Chris Pronger; items signed by the Eagles; and restaurant and salon gift certificates among other great keepsakes and memory makers.

Whisper Nightclub is located at 1712 Walnut Street, Philadelphia, PA. A $5 donation at the door is suggested, as is “dress to impress” attire. A percentage of the bar is also being donated to SSU, and Sampan, a local, modern Asian cuisine restaurant is providing hors d’oeuvres.

To be placed on the questlist, RSVP to Lindsay Furman at lindsayfurman@gmail.com.
